ZipBuild respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

Data Collected During Discovery

When you use our AI-guided discovery process, we collect:

  • Conversation data — Your responses during the discovery chat (product description, features, user journeys, etc.)
  • App specifications — The product name, description, and technical requirements you provide
  • Session data — Temporary session state stored in your browser's sessionStorage to preserve your progress

This data is used to generate your personalised scaffold and is stored in our database alongside your purchase record.

Payment Information

When you purchase a ZipBuild product, our payment processor (Stripe) collects:

  • Email address
  • Name
  • Payment information (handled entirely by Stripe)
  • Billing address (if required by your payment method)

We do not store your card details. All payment processing is handled securely by Stripe. We only receive confirmation of successful payments and your email address for delivery.

Cookies and Local Storage

We use minimal cookies and browser storage:

  • Essential cookies — Required for basic site functionality
  • Cookie consent — A cookie to remember your consent preference
  • sessionStorage — Temporary storage for discovery progress (automatically cleared when you close your browser)

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics that identify individual users.

Data Retention

  • Discovery data — Retained for 90 days after generation, then automatically deleted unless linked to a purchase
  • Generated scaffolds — Retained indefinitely for paid purchases so you can re-download your files
  • Purchase records — Retained as required by UK/EU tax law (typically 6-7 years)
  • Session data — Automatically cleared after 30 minutes of inactivity

What We Don't Do

We do NOT:

  • Sell your data to third parties
  • Use your email for marketing without consent
  • Track you across other websites
  • Store your payment card details
  • Share your app ideas or specifications with anyone

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

  • Generate your personalised scaffold
  • Deliver your purchase via email
  • Provide download access to your generated files
  • Send important product updates (rare)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Process refunds if requested

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Stripe — Payment processing
  • Supabase — Database hosting (EU region)
  • Vercel — Website hosting
  • Resend — Transactional emails (delivery emails only)
  • Anthropic — AI processing for scaffold generation

Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing how they handle your data.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you're in the EU/UK, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Request data portability
